How are we to live as Christians?

                                         Micah 6:8 is a call for Christians to become more like Christ. Those who follow Jesus are asked to commit to the action of justice, to love mercy, and to live our lives in humility. This verse uses the verb "walk" as a way to describe how to direct one's life. Many verses in the Bible use the metaphor of walking to enlighten us to the way that God would have us live. How are we to walk? We are to "walk humbly" - in other words - without arrogance and egocentric focus. Christians are to engage in humility as we do justice and love mercy. Blessed Assurance

                                           The hymn "Blessed Assurance" is one of 8,000 hymns written by Frances Jane Crosby (1871-1915).  Despite being blind from infancy, Fanny Crosby's testimony of gratefulness, joy and faith inspired her to write songs and hymns that made her a prominent gospel song writer of her day.  Fanny wrote the first stanza of "Blessed Assurance" immediately after hearing her friend, composer Phoebe Knapp, play a melody on the piano.   I created this little painting at the request of my father, who loves the second stanza and narrated to me what he imagined when he heard the words that described the angels descending from above. Perhaps my father is drawn to this hymn because it focuses entirely on heaven, which he often wonders and talks about.
